Hi, Wim,
I guess, that's it!
But- can You please translate for me the (D) "-glooiing"? I don't know
its
meaning at all, but we have a very similar sounding word in L.S.:
"gloeinig" or "gleunig", meaning (E) "to glow".
Thanks un' Greutens
Fiete.

bij ons gebruiken we het woord katteie voor de volledige stenen zeedijk
of
de golfbrekers (brise lames). With 'glooiing' I mean the surface of the
dyke? It's not Oostends but official dutch. As far as i know it doesn't
come from lava or glowing.
zo hebben we afgeleide woorden: ('oostends woordenboek' - Roland
desnerck)
katteiefretter - 'fretten = eating': tourist who is bringing his bread
with
him and doesn't spend any money - now we say 'frigoboxtoerist'
katteietrap: stairs from the dyke to the strand
katteiehoofd: head of the harborbor mouth 'pier'
