Tom,
Thanks for that - found it very amusing. I'm very
interested in the fact that in the US some words have
survived in there. It reminds me of a song we have in
the region - Cushie Butterfield:
'She's aa big lass 'an aa bonny wern [one] and she
lykes [likes] hor [her] beor [beer],
Wuh [we] caal [call] hor Cushie Butterfield 'an wu
[we] wish she wez [was] heor' [here].
Who knows it might be her!
Are there records of any Northumrian survivals in
North America?
