Our temporarily absent member (currently in Sweden) Edward Sproston, who
intends to rejoin us shortly after his impending return to the U.K., kindly
sent me an interesting book reference:

   Haider Munske, Horst, ed. (2001), _Handbuch des Friesischen / Handbook
   of Frisian Studies_. Tübingen: Niemeyer; ISBN: 3-484-73048-X;
   XIV, 845 pp.; hardbound, linen.

1. I got two replies, one with advice regarding sound files (thanks) an
an other, quote "Ik ben enorm dankbaar voor iedere duikje naar de rijke
muzikale taaltraditie dat jij ons kunt leveren. Voor mijn deel houd je
maar gerust bezig ermee als je gusting heeft." (thanks very much).

However since preparing these files requires some effort, since I'm not
sure a "temporary storing" on an internet URL is sufficiently legal, and
since altogether just very few (2) readers are interested, I stop this
activity. I continue collecting sound records, with focus on the area SW
of the Rhine in Germany, the Netherlands, the Netherlands and France.
Some of these records are hard to find or even just published for
subscribers.

I removed all sound files from the temp directory.

2. I got in a couple of publications from "Onze Taal" today, I think
other readers may be interested in.

"Onze Taal" issued all copies of it's monthly  magazine for the period
1932-2000 on 2 CDs. since the Dutch language underwent 2 spelling
reforms in this period, since the language evoluated from a more
"literary" form to a form close to "Randstad spoken Dutch" it think this
publication is a very interesting source for studying the evolution of
the language in last century.

The CDs come with Acrobat Reader 4.0, a complicated set of instructions
+ a note correcting these.
The pages are scanned,
the word indexes are automatically OCR composed, I guess because of some
lines being poorly (but still readable by the naked eye) scanned, and
contain errors.
Selecting texts within Acrobat for copying doesn't work.
Nevertheless it's a joy to just go through these volumes page by page.
