Subject: Holidays

Dear Lowlanders,

We have several Chinese and a couple of Vietnamese subscribers.  For them,
*the* holiday of the year is coming up on February 12, a holiday that tends to
be referred to as "Chinese New Year" in the West: _Chunjie_ (_Ch'un-chieh_
"Spring Festival") in Chinese, and _Têt Nguyên Dân_ (a.k.a. "Têt") in
Vietnamese.  It is customary to reunite with one's extended family for the
occasion and this is likely to involve some travel and absence from the List.
So, well in advance, I wish these subscribers safe travel, very joyful
holidays and a happy and prosperous Year of the Horse on behalf of everyone on
Lowlands-L!
