These consist of a whole hard-boiled egg, covered thickly
in a sort of meat paste or sausage meat, then covered in
breadcrumbs and fried. They're so popular that they can be
obtained in any supermarket and aren't especially tasty.
They're usually eaten cold by people who need a substantial
snack while "on the go".
Wrong meat surely? The meatballs are beef, Scotch egg types are pig.
However, hamburgers contain no ham and Frankfurters no Franks, now.

The person who wrote it was Sandy Fleming <sandy at scotstext.org>, not I
(<sassisch at yahoo.com>), though I am the originator of this and other LL-L
issues.
This applies to everyone:
After you hit the reply button, please replace the automatic
"sassisch at yahoo.com" and/or "Lowlands-L" with the name (and optionally email
address) of the person who wrote the piece to which you respond, as described
in the rules <http://www.geocities.com/sassisch/rhahn/lowlands/rules.html>:
===start quote===
Edit quotes.
When you reply to what someone else has written, don't just hit the reply
button and write your reply before or after the quoted text. Edit out whatever
is not essential, most definitely the LL-L masthead and footer. (They are
going to stay, for good reasons.) Also, don't do what some do: they follow
this rule nicely until they run out of things to say, and then they let the
rest of the quoted text dangle behind their "signature."
Give credit.
Don't forget to say who the writer of the text is to which you are responding.
(When you hit the reply button your system most likely credits the
administrator or "Lowlands-L," the sender, even if they did not write it.)
===end quote===
I try to be patient with beginners and usually give them a hint or two.
However, repeated violation of this and other rules may result in rejection of
offending submissions without notification. (Yes, it *has* happened before.)
Regards,
Reinhard/Ron
