Kann angohn, wat ick door noch wat funnen heff, ne blauts in unsen
Dialekt:

Fröher wöör dat Koorn noch oppe Deelen döscht, inne Schüün. Dat, wat
von't
Koorn trennt wöör ( wöör kein Affall; wuur noch as Swienfauer bruukt),
dat
Spelz un' de Grannen, hett "Kaff" heeten .
Kunn't nich ween, wat dat höören deiht too E. "to cut, the cut",
Hoochdüütsch "kurz, kürzen", Plattdüütsch "kott" (E. "short",
Hoochdüütsch
"kurz", obers ook "Kattgut" (Faden zum Vernähen von Wunden), "Kutte" (E.
"cowl"), viellicht ook "Kufe" (vonne Schörken or Ski, dee snieed' inn't
Ies
or Snei)?  Un' denn- Franzöösch "coupe". Schull'n wi door viellicht dat
"p"
as dennen Vadder (or Modder) vonn't Verschuuwen tau'n "f" funnen hebben?

PERHAPS I found another example, not just in our regional LS dialect:

At former times cereals had been threshed on the treshing-floor within
the
sheds. The separated parts of the corns (not waste, at that times; it
was
used to feed the pigs), the skins of it and the beards were named L.S.
"Kaff".
I presume it cognate to E. "to cut, the cut", Upper G. "kurz, kürzen",
L.S.
"kott" (E. "short", Upper G. "kurz", but also: "Kattgut" [sorry, cannot
translate, it's the stuff Doctors sew with any hole in someones skin]
"Kutte" (E: "cowl"), maybe "Kufe" (of a  pair of skates or ski; they
*cut*
into ice or snow). And then- French "coupe".- There we PERHAPS have the
"p"
which enables to shift to "f".

Sorry-  just a few minutes ago I talked with a M.D., friend of mine- he
told
me "Catgut" is from the good old "cat" (E.: "cat's gut").
