Hallo Fellow Lowlanders

All this talk of being full up to the ears and your veins being full of
food,
etc., set me thinking. Could it be that this expression originated when
the
level of knowledge of the human body's anatomy was still medieval?
Could it then also be that there exist other expressions based on the
same
primitive knowledge base?

Hi,

About those oortjes, the coins, in "ik heb mijn laatste oortje
versnoept"
, i spend my last penny on sweets,  is that oortje, the same word as
scandinavian ore,   also derived from the roman gold coin?   (Talking
about inflation... )  the Aurelius, no, I forgot the exact name of the
Roman coin..   Well ..meaning gold coin..
Just a side thought...
