Dear Lowlanders,

Since my last Administrativa message last week (July 12) we got a few
new subscribers.  They come from the following places:

A very friendly welcome to all of them on behalf of the entire
Lowlands-L family! Welkom! Welcome! Willkommen! Selamat datang! Sain
irsenee! ¡Bienvenido!

As of this moment (and the latest subscription took place about one
minute ago), this makes exactly 351 subscribers all over the world.  The
number oscillates, usually between 300 and 350.  For whatever reason, a
sudden jump has been taking place during the past two weeks.

I want to remind everyone that our rules and guidelines are located at
this address: http://www.sassisch.net/rhahn/lowlands/rules.html
You can read them in English, Dutch, Lowlands Saxon (Low German) or
Limburgish.  (Further translations would be welcome.)  It is important
to read them, not only regarding the "art" of posting but also about the
do's, don't's, can's and can't's of subscription.  You are expected to
be familiar with them.

I also want to remind everyone that a few of us are currently working on
a series of web pages with introductions to our language varieties.  It
is hoped that these will appear in Dutch, English, German, French,
Portuguese, Spanish, Russian and Ukrainian.  We strongly encourage
people to join in the effort, as writers and/or translators (not
necessarily limited to the languages listed above).  "Main blurbs" will
be devoted to our "main" language varieties and "sub-blurbs" (free-style
"essays") to more specific dialects or topics.  If you wish to help,
please write to me (sassisch at yahoo.com).

Congratulations to our own Jonathan Riddell on creating a Scots version
of Mozilla! I used to use Mozilla (a pretty neat, free-of-charge browser
alternative to Netscape and Internet Explorer) and have now reinstalled
it (though in English), thanks to Jonathan's reminder.
