Of course: what about engl. "lake", upper German "Lache", in our dialekt
"look", Scots "loch"?
But: "wanschapen" seems to come from the West, from Holland or
East-Friesland, because it is completely unknown in our region, as older
people told me this evening.
I'll never trust in DUDEN No. 7!
