William Hednry Harrison was not an upstate NY patroon or of that class; he
was, however, a member of the Virginia gentry -- attaching him to a "log
cabin" was good politics in an election that featured hard cider parties, an
barbecues (which were then called "barbaroos" by the way -- there's a new
word for some of you), but it wsas a very inaccurate description of his
actual background.
