Dat is dan hun eigen risico ...  Het feit dat ik me in in aantal
andere talen dan mijn moederstaal redelijk kan redden is dankzij
het feit dat mijn stuntelige pogingen in den vreemde vrijwel altijd
met aanmoediging en nooit met spot werden ontvangen.  En bovendien
is jouw bovenstaande Nederlandse zin foutloos (al zou ik 'dood' en
'lacht' aanelkaar schrijven, maar na 20 jaar buiten Nederland ben
ik ook daar niet helemaal zeker meer van.)

En wat het hoodthema betreft, Nederlands is en blijft mijn eigen
taal, maar ik hoop dat men mij na 10 jaar in de VS vergeeft dat als
ik schrijf het er automatisch eerst in het Engels uitkomt ...
