From: "Chris Ferguson" <shoogly at ntlworld.com>
Subject: I-worm/Bug virus
Today I received an email - which I was suspicious of. It said:
Content reads:
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns =
"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
I do not normally forward messages on to other people - especially if
they
are unsolicitated but I received this one below today. I do not know how
they got my email address
It had an attachment.
Attachment is: Heathers new version mdb.exe
it also said it was from Russia
Usually I just immediately delete emails like this- but this time I
saved the attachment to a floppy disk ( I did not
open it ) - and scanned it with my antivirus software ( AVG - free from
www.grisoft.com ) - it came back and
immediately said there was a viruses and it is the:
the I-worm/Bug virus.
My software fixed the virus - but I formatted the disk anyway ( this
will get rid of it definitely - but also any other
information saved on it ! ). I also scanned my whole H.D after this.
So if you get a message which has the above content -and has the
attachment: Heather's new version
mdb.exe - delete it immediately - do not open the attachment.
You should also do this anyway with any suspicious emails. If you don't
know them -don't be tempted to open
attachments. If you want to open it -save it to a floppy first and scan
the floppy.
But just thought I'd let you know this virus is going around. There are
often hoaxes - but this is not one.
