Beste Sandy,
Recently you wrote :

with <j>.
The English dictionary that I'm having (Van Dale), mentions the following
words though :
_hadj_, _raj_, _swaraj_, and _taj_ (of course they are loan words *s*)
Even the spelling _hajj_ with two final <j>'s is atttested.
Kind greetings,

Croistoir and Ron,
Don't get me wrong, I agree with you on _adviser_. The
_-or_ version should be banned and people who use it
imprisoned!
Not that I'm one to 'enforce my view' or anything...
Regards,

How can I get you wrong when you make it so abundantly clear? :) But you
seem to have gotten *me* wrong. I didn't take sides, just said:

Blame the old mellowing (or aging) process, but -- to put it bluntly -- I
don't really give a rat's behind if people write <adviser> or <advisor>.
It's not the kind of thing that I get my knickers in a twist over these
days.

Why not have their writing hands severed at the wrist? Well, don't bother!
If justice prevails they will go straight to orthography hell when they die.
Hey! What about <supervisor>? <Superviser> rather? ;)
Cheers!
Reinhard/Ron
