Chris, you are in good company.  Our Gulf Coast Celtic Society in my
hometown of  Gulfport, holds a Burns Supper each year, and we hae several
Scottish festivals each year.  There is a great deal of celebration in this
country of the Scottish heritage, many societies.  Much geneological study.
