Subject: Resources (Finno-Ugric Grammars)

I suppose one ought to mention the essential grammar series by Routledge:
Karlsson, F (1999) Finnish: an Essential Grammar. London, Routledge
Rounds, C. (2001) Hungarian: an Essential Grammar. London, Routledge
and they also do a descriptive grammar series:
Sulkala, H and M. Karalainen (1992) Finnish. London: Routledge
Vago, R. M., I. Kenesei, and A. Fenyvesi (1997) Hungarian. London: Routledge
and for an Altaic language:
Kornfilt, J (1997) Turkish. London: Routledge

Thanks, Jason.

Talking about Routledge (http://www.routledge.com/), there are also these:

Alo Raun, _Essays in Finno-Ugric and Finnic Linguistics_, 1997, ISBN
070070907X

Robert T. Harms, _Finnish Structural Sketch_, 1997, ISBN 0700708421

Lars Johanson, Eva Csato, eds., _The Turkic Languages_, 1998, 0415082005

Vilhelm Thomsen, _On the Influence of Germanic Language on Finnic and Lapp_,
1997, ISBN 0700708871

And back home in the Lowlands, ...

Ekkehard König, Johan van der Auwera, eds., _The Germanic Languages_,
hardback 1994 ($185.00) ISBN 041505768X, paperback 2002 ($31.95) ISBN
0415280796
Blurb:
"The Germanic Languages provides a survey of twelve Germanic languages.
Fully comprehensive, this book presents both detailed research on the major
Germanic languages and rarely covered minor languages including Yiddish,
Pennsylvanian German, and Afrikaans. Extensive discussions of phonology,
morphology, syntax, lexis, and the main dialects plus a comprehensive index,
bibliographies, and maps of language distribution and development make this
a complete reference source."

If I remember correctly, it doesn't give Lowlands Saxon (Low German),
Zeelandic and Limburgish a fair shake.

Regards,
Reinhard/Ron
