Interesting. I double-checked _ros_ in my dictionary to exclude
contamination from Cornish _rosh_ and it was glossed 'wood', 'headland' and
'promontory'.

While I do not believe that Ir. _ros_ developed under Flemish influence,
clearly we need a greater survey of Flemish-Irish language contact in
Wexford. Any information anyone on the list has concerning Flemish-speakers
in the Anglo-Norman Wexford settlement of 1169 would be greatly appreciated.

(Incidentally, for the Gaelic-literate on the list I persistently mis-spelt
_ros_ as _rós_ in my original reply to Luc, which would of course have meant
'rose'. I plead tiredness at the end of a long day!)
