Hai Lowlanders
Re the discussion whether it was the Black Death or not, I think I remember
that someone in a t.v. programme once said that it could have been anthrax
instead.  Anyone know more about this?

We know it was a pandemic bearing this name which appears to have been the
Pasteurella pestis induced Plague but naturally cabnnot be certain. Same
thing applies to all those Leprosy cases many of which would have been
psoriasis or fungal complaints to say nothing of mite infetsations..
On the latter Sandy I refer you to the Edinburgh suburb of Liberton where
there was a leper colony in medieval times and the local kirk, still there,
had an open window where they could assemble for services. Liberton in fact
is probably a corruption of Leper Toon.
