Subject: Afrikaans is Amsterdams

I just wanted to draw your attention to an article by Piet
Paardekooper, a professor emeritus at Leiden University. It is
entitled 'Afrikaans is Amsterdams!' and is published in
'Taalschrift', an e-zine about language and language policy by the
Nederlandse Taalunie.

The article, published in the 'Discussie' section, is meant to
provoke reactions from its readers. Paardekooper, not an
uncontroversial figure in Dutch linguistics, might just be the right
person to stir up a discussion.
