Leve Roeliena etc.,
stadkinderen. Misschien hebben boerenkinder toch een anner
socialisatie.......

In English:
Dear Roelina, Ron and all,
your story is touching me and the experience, how school system as well
as the history of this on both sides of German/Dutch border were alike.
But I don't agree in all points. For my feeling it sound a little bit
too romantic. Values in this environment almost were given by the
attitude of the teacher. I still hear the saying: "Do you want to feed
the cows with French vocabulary?" I experienced very much, that these
equalized their values very much with neighbors and farmers in their new
environment, though they came as refugees after WW II to that village.
The level of education in this tiny landschool has always been higher ,
than in basic school in town.
A few years later, when I joined secondary school, this
three-classes-school was broken up and moved to town. From my point of
view I still experience this step for all those (farmers-) kid as an
advantage for their integration into society. The difference between
town children and the abased rural kids disappeared comletely. Low
German has'nt decreased or disappeared in this community even among the
young ones. By the way, the results of farmer's kid's in school are in
average higher. Maybe, socialisation in rural environment has
advantages.....
