In Protestant churches only, of course, especially Calvinist ones, because
the "official" religion in the Netherlands was Calvinism. The Southern
Netherlands, i.e. present day Belgium/"Flanders", is now entirely Roman
Catholic, but in the beginning there were at least as much Protestants
there as in the North. After the Roman Catholic Reconquista, hundreds of
thousands of them fleed to the North, together with numerous Huguenots
from France.
(High) German was never used in the Netherlands, except in immigrant
Lutheran churches.
