So, Ron, since you're handing out the Hawaiian names instead of gold stars,
and I'm sure I've said something gold star-worthy in the past, howsabout a
Hawaiian name for myself? If you're going by meaning, I'm pretty content
with the meanings of my three names.
Smarmily yours,
Isaac M. Davis

Hmmm ... if I took the time to think about it really hard I might be able to
come up with something meritous you've said or done. ;-)
My thinking is that them gold stars are very small and easily get lost,
while a Hawaiian "tribal" name can be borne as a badge of honor for
eternity.

"Isaac" will do, since it suits your "cool Celtesque sense of humor" (Hebrew
יִצְחָק _Yişħâq_ (Yitzchak) 'he'll laugh', 'laughing one') in conjunctions
with your current signature:
'Akakō'eleiālani
(< *Katatōkereihārangi)
'aka (laughter)
'eleiālani (west [poetic], also a shaman’s name])
kō (wind-borne)
Incidentally, there are well over a hundred, if not hundreds of, Hawaiian
words for 'wind', describing their directions, strengths and temperatures
and in many cases also their specific localities. Each Island or part of an
island has its own set of winds.
Our Paul (Tatum):
> TTFN, Paul "The Regulator" Tatum
Ho'oponopono'ōlelo
(< *Fokopongopongokōrero)
ho'oponopono (regulate(-ing))
'ōlelo (speech, language)
I'm hoping that all this talk will somehow result in a discussion about
Hawaiian (English-based) Creole and generate Hawaiian Creole and Hawaiian
language versions of the Wren story ...
Aloha,
Reinhard/Ron
P.S.: Sorry I forgot St. Nicolas Day. I hope that all of you who celebrate
it had a good day.
