Ik heb met veel plezier naar de beide Afrikaanse opnames van Elsie Zinsser
geluisterd op onze A-site.
Nu heb ik wel een vraag, Elsie, die ik overigens al eens eerder aan jou
heb gesteld: is er in het Afrikaans een duidelijk verschil tussen de korte
i en de korte u? Voor mij klinkt Bostinktinkie namelijk als Tunktunkie
en in het Garieb/Griqua schrijf je hille in plaats van hulle, maar dat
klinkt voor mij allebei als hulle.
Of is er misschien een heel subtiel verschil dat men moet leren horen?

Ingmar,

Het korte <i> is een schwa ([@]) in het Afrikaans, daarom minder verschil 
tussen <i> en <u>, geloof ik.
