OK, with all those Egyptian riddles, I can't keep it in any longer - it's
just stronger than me. But I am not going to translate this into English,
because it only works in Dutch; it would turn out just too crude in any
translation.

Mijn moeder besloot toen ze zo'n jaar of zestig was, dat ze vanwegen haar
half-Nederlandse kleinkinderen ook zo'n beetje Nederlands zou moeten leren,
in de volkshogeschool.

Op een goeie dag had haar onderwijzeres een raadsel meegebracht, namelijk:

"De koning van Egypte,
die had een ding dat wipte
tussen z'n benen en onder z'n gat.
Een twee drie, en wat was dat?"

Mijn moeder maakte zich er echt boos om en zei dat ze die soort grapjes
helemaal niet prettig vond. Toen zei de onderwijzeres: "Hoezo, het is toch
maar een hobbelpaard! Maar ik ben blij, dat U meedenkt!"

Moin, Gabriele!

Bedankt voor dat ... vermakende raadseltje!  Ik begrijp nu waarom het
onvermijdelijk was dat je "barst". Onder de gegevenen omstandigheden ben ik
gedwongen je edelmoedig te vergeven.

"Better bawdy than burst," or "Better ribald than repressed," as they used
to say.  (Well, someone surely did!)
