I don't see why not.

Also, regarding pre-Columbus European contact (excluding the Vikings and 
Skraelings) with Americans, the Popul Vuh (known to many modern Mayans as 
the Pop Wuh) tells of ambassadors/explorers who sailed across the Atlantic, 
and returned months later with strange objects, and tales of a large island 
across the sea. If this is true, they were presumably talking about what we 
know today as Africa, or Europe...
