Laiwe Lowlanners,

in de neddersaske Spraok jüst so äs in de haugdüütske un engelske Spraok is
dat Waod "Gift" in Vöbinnung auk met "Metgift", "Mitgift" of "gift" in dat
Bedüden van dat "Giëwene" of dat Metgiëwene" to finnen. Wu kan et sien, dat
et so schriëwen wät, obschoonst et jä van "giëwen" of "to give" kümp?

Liebe Lowlander,

im Niedersächsischen ebenso wie im Hochdeutschen oder Englischen ist das
Wort "Gift" in Verbindung auch mit "Metgift", "Mitgift" oder "gift" in der
Bedeutung von "Gegebenes, Geschenktes" zu finden. Wi kommt es, daß es so
geschrieben wird, obwohl es ja von  "giëwen" bzw. "to give" kommt?
