That was also Tolkien's stamping ground, right? You say no dialect, but you
must surely be aware of a distinctive & very attractive accent (to us at
least). You should hear that same accent transposed onto Afrikaans!

Maybe it's growing up with it, but I never thought of East Midlands,
especially Leicestershire, as a particularly attractive form of English.
I've never heard E. Midlands Afrikaans, but Geordie transposes well,
probably because Geordies heavily dipthongise long vowels; Northumberland
"Nay, Man!" sounds almost exactly like "Nee, Man".
