Same here. The German word for "nutmeg" is "Muskat", but our whole household
has taken to calling it "muskrat", as in "and now add a dash of muskrat for
that special flavour"...

Niceties deed!  Whitwey wad ye forgit?  It's a pleisur tae see ye, John, and
the nicht sark dinna fash us a thocht.

By the way, according to the _Oxford English Dictionary_, "kitchen" is a
verb in English as well, though I have never heard it used that way.

1590 (Shakespeare): " There is a fat friend at your masters house, That
kitchin'd me for you to day at dinner."

1893:  "The indefatigable Brother..was kitchening under difficulties."

1883: " Crying out for old books, and good kitchening, and good manners."

And (!):
1865: "There is an unpleasant sensation of wanting what the Scotch know by
the word kitchen, ó̓ψον, We made the fat kitchen the lean."
