Beste Ron,

Fully agree with what you wrote about linguistic mapping.
However...many of my students speak Berber-dialects at home, Dutch in school
and French out in the streets of Brussels. Sometimes even all of this at the
same time (in one sentence) *s*. Moreover I heard that neither Moroccan, nor
French or Dutch are proficiently spoken and written.

Would they be entitled to choose more than one language in a U.S. census? If
it's possible to have more than one nationality (don't know if that's
possible in the U.S., here it is); it can't be that awkward to opt for two
languages, can it?

Greetings,

Luc Hellinckx

Hi, Luc!

If I remember correctly, you can indeed choose more than one languages. But
then again, I may not remember correctly ...

Regards,
Reinhard/Ron
