Reuben Epp reuben at uniserve.com replies:
Jack Thiessen in his "Mennonite Low German Dictionary"
of 2003 describes Plautdietsch "peesre" as follows:
peesre, intrans., w.v. brenne, verjagen, auch stark stauben,
in die Lüfte zom Vertreiben werfen, wie Federn. "Peesre"
bezeichnet auch Mennoniten, die einem andern Glauben
verfallen sind oder ihrem mennonitischen Glauben den
Rücken gekehrt haben;
to burn, to drive away or to disperse like feathers in the
wind. Also used of Mennonites who have adopted a
different faith or disowned their own credence.
Pol.: "pedzic"; vertreiben, brennen; to disperse or burn.
Cheers!
