The Western Goths needed from A.D. 396 till A.D. 415 to migrate from the
Peleponnes to Aquitania, strolling up and down through nearly whole Italy on
their way. A rough guess: they made about 3,500 km within a time of 20
years- a whole tribe of more than a million people as I read anywhere.
Unbelievable, isn't it, even if not all of them may have done all 'detours'
and did arrive all at the same time! But they couldn't have splitted their
folks too much, I guess, because they wouldn't have survived then.

Similar with the Vandals: starting at A.D. 405 from (today's) Eastern
Hungary they migrated through the whole of Europe to Gibraltar (419), then
crossed the Mediterr. Sea and reached Carthago at A.D. 429. A whole tribe,
again.

Greutens/Regards
