Beste Luc, it IS not a terrible accent, but you THINK it is.
Just as many British will think the American accent is horrible,
or the Australian one, but of course that is bullshit as well.
And many Westerners seem to hate Arabic etc, which is one of the
most eloquent languages there is...

By the way, Reinhard, Barbara's Dutch is NOT at all an example of an
Eastern Netherlands accent, she was born and raised in Brabant, but her
Dutch is more or less stadard, without a regional accent.
I don't hope our Flemish will call her accent terrible as well... ;-)

You did?!  Oh, boy!  What did I do with it?  Can you resend it, Luc?  Sorry 
about that.

OK, and then we need someone (hopefully more than one) to volunteer for an 
"ugly" Randstad rendition.  It would be nice to have Standard Dutch readings 
by people from other areas as well, e.g., the Saxon areas, Zeeland, Western 
Flanders, both Limburgs, both Brabants, Fryslân, Eupen, ...  Let's 
demonstrate to people, especially people outside the Low Countries, the 
range of Dutch pronunciation!

Sorry about that misrepresentation.  Well, for all it's worth, I say it 
sounds just lovely, well "acted," and I understood each and every word very 
clearly at first playing.  It would be great as a part of a teaching series. 
Please give my regards to Barbara and tell her that her effort is much 
appreciated.

P.S..: By the way, I had a long chat with a Yiddish speaker and specialist 
in Berkeley about a week ago.  He confirmed that Western Yiddish is now 
extinct, although some German language varieties with Yiddish influence as 
well as Eastern Yiddish of Belgium and the Netherlands have been referred to 
as "Western Yiddish."  This thing about Western Yiddish surviving thus 
appears to be a באָבע־מעשׂה _bobe-mayse_ ("grandmother tale").
