A good example of how close Low Saxon and Dutch are, compared to German
and English, but also how close Low Saxon and German are compared to
English and Dutch, and how close Dutch and German are, compared to English.

Van deme wynd der morgentyd sallen se ok  wech syn.
Vannacht sal ik se by lampenlycht myt wunder bekyken.

Middle English:

YEMERNESSE OUER PYANYES
Ich erme ouer the pyanyes by the grees.
Thes euen weren thar oonlepy twa.
Thes to scholle awey mid the wynd of morwe.
By lampe licht schol ich hem to nyght mid wonder bi-loken.
