Sorry, I missed that discussion!
I visited http://www.kolping-steinheim.de/Fahrrad/altes%20land.htm
Wow! What a bright green background. It makes me nostalgic for the old
Dutch banknotes!
I think from this map that the area you are talking about is the
Landkreis Stade? This is covered in the volume Albrecht, Heike
_Baudenkmale in Niedersachsen Landreis Landkreis Stade_
Denkmaltopographie Bundesrepublik Deutschland: Baudenkmale in
Niedersachsen 26.1 1996 3-8271-8258-1 This volume has lots of
late timber frame, and a few brick buildings, of various status, with no
use of wall anchors, except Elbstraße 2, Freiburg (there is one just
across the river at Hamburg -Bergedorfer Schloss).
Best wishes,
Pat

Oh, the whole caboodle not only about crossed horse and swan heads but also
about the _ulenvlucht_ feature? Some of it starts here:
http://listserv.linguistlist.org/cgi-bin/wa?A2=ind0509a&L=lowlands-l&F=&S=&P=1721
And you can follow the thread from there. Also, do a substring search
(http://listserv.linguistlist.org/cgi-bin/wa?S1=lowlands-l) for
_ulenvlucht_.
I have to admit that I did miss you in that exchange, but I figured you were
busy with your dissertation and similar trivia. ;-)
At least you took the bait *this* time. (Yah, vee heff vehs ent means off
enticink you ...)
Regards,
Reinhard/Ron
