Use of Dutch on the decline in European Community meetings.

Parliamentary delegations prefer transfering budgets for translations into

MINDER NEDERLANDS IN EU-INSTELLINGEN

 Het Nederlands gaat sterk achteruit als gebruikstaal in EU-vergaderingen. 
Door
 de uitbreiding met 10 nieuwe landen halveerden de omzettingen in het Neder-
 lands. En door nieuwe betaalregels is het gebruik van het Nederlands nog 
met
 een zesde afgenomen.

 De tolken zelf trekken aan de alarmbel. De beslissing om voortaan per land 
een
 vast vertaalbudget van 2 miljoen euro ter beschikking te stellen, leidt tot
 het uitkleden van de vertaaldiensten.

 Vroeger werd per opdracht betaald. Als nu een taalgroep afziet van tolken 
en
 vertalers, bespaart ze geld dat ze aan andere dingen als delegatiereizen 
kan
 besteden.
