Don't knock the USA too much.
Many years ago (forget the date, 1950's ?) when soccer had not become popular the
English national team stopped over in the USA en-route to a South American venue.
A scratch formed US team invited them to have a friendly demonstration match and
the English superteam eagerly accepted. The insignificant US lads proceeded to
thoroughly trounce the World Class English a humiliation that's conveniently
forgotten those days.
