Hi all,
Yes, Ben, I've never found any good black tea in the US
unless it is imported from South Africa or made by Twinings.
A brand called Russian Caravan has a great reputation among friends in UK.
You may be able to track it down, know it's available in Ozland.

Actually, chicken fried steak is simply steak that has been breaded and
fried just like fried chicken normally is, with flour, egg, and usually
bread crumbs, along with other spices sometimes. It's usually served with
gravy, but it is a whole slab of meat. Some might still find it disgusting,
but it's not because it's necessarily been processed. :-)

Um, it's steak, not chicken - it's just breaded or battered and then deep
fried, like fried chicken. It's also usually made with cheap cuts of meat,
such as cube steak: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cube_steak (another
explanation of the tenderizing process is here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiss_steak).
The whole point of chicken fried steak is to make a tough, low-quality cut
of beef more palatable by breading/battering, frying it, and then smothering
it with gravy (true chicken fried steak has to have what's called sawmill
gravy http://www.recipegoldmine.com/breakmeat/breakmeat27.html - anything
else is a travesty!)
Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans cooked with
bacon, fried okra, and sweet iced tea, with peach cobbler for desert -
Southern heaven!

Are they smokers by any chance? It tends to taste too "black" and "burny"
to many people. It's somewhat smokey. I drank and liked it in my smoking
lifetime, not now. (I smoked Gaulois then, as strong as they come, which
was perceived as being very exotically Continental in England then.) The
only way I could stomach Caravan tea now would be traditional Russian style
with a heaping tablespoon of cherry preserves or some such.
Kevin, "fried okra" ... Now you're talkin'! I'll have blackeyed peas and
some kale, collard or mustard greens with that, love all of those.
(And I just had dinner ...)
