Hi everybody,

In East-Brabant Wednesday is called /gunstax/. In Dutch I would write the
word as Goenstag. Van Haeringen in the Supplement to Franck-Van Wijk's
Etymological Dictionary of the Dutch Language raised the opinion that this
particular change of the initial consonant of the word (which is also used
in Limburg and in neighbouring regions in Germany) possibly occurred when
people unconsciously tried to make the word sound more christian by
associating it with 'God'.

surprising considering that it is geographically close to varieties on the German
side of the border that have similar forms.
