Mien Drööm is
ja, dat wi dat noch mal hinkriegt, dat wi Scholen in Noorddüütschland hebbt, wo
de Kinners op Platt ünnerricht warrt. Sünst hett en Spraak keen Tokunft. Dorför
schall denn ok den plattdüütsche Wikipedia den Weg kloormaken. Denn dann bruukt
wi Mathematik un Physik un Chemie op Platt. Un dor bruukt wi ok de
Moderspraaklers. Blots wullt de uns nich helpen. Ja, denn mutt wohl de Lüüd de
Arbeit maken, de Platt nich to Huus lehrt hebbt. Is dann woll so.
warrt.

I do not measure the Low Saxon Wikipedia against the English one. I measure it
against itself. The growth can be seen in
http://nds.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Milensteen
It has grown by 50% and most of those articles that were added during 2006 are of
good quality. That is a big progress. We have also found several technical terms
that we really needed and I think our choices have been good and they fit to the
overall character of Plattdüütsch. I think that over time people will not
recognize that they were defined in 2006. And that is just the same with a lot of
technical terms in High German. At some point in history they were defined and
now you cannot imagine to use another word instead.
Another point that I really like is that the number of regular contributors has
risen. For quite some time it was mainly a team of two contributors. Now we are
at least 5. That, too, is a big progress.
And, as far as we know, the LS Wikipedia is the most comprehensive Website in LS
language in all the Internet. That, too, is a big achievement. I expect the
project to grow a lot.

Thanks a lot for that.

Right. Why don't you, for example, translate that article for us. Every
contributor in the Low Saxon Wikipedia writes about those topics that he likes.
Otherwise you would not have the motivation to do that work. Over time the gaps
will close.
Kind regards,
Heiko Evermann
