Subject: CMT Syndrome

Like the Syrian King I called together my councillors & spake unto them,
saying, "Who is on the side of the Great Kahuna, say, who?"

Then up & spake an eltern knecht, sat at my richt knee, "*There is a prophet
*in the Lowlands, heit Our Ron, & he tells the Great Kahuna what My Lord
does in his bedchamber."

This no doubt accounts for your sage advice (which I took in advance) about
footbaths & massaging Ruth's poor, little footsies. I am more or less tied
to my work routine, here in Pretoria, but she has hied her off to Darkest
Johannesburg for a bit of Hanukka at a synagogue with a famous choir &
choristor. She will be attending to her own feet for the next couple of
days.

You asked for an update, but she was feeling rather downbeat, so I waited
till she was out of earshot. We are still positive of course, it could be so
much worse, but besides massage & a heavy hand with the horse linament, we
are bandaging her feet for almost any activity out of the house. So it will
remain until the sixteenth of January, when doctors with I hope wiser
council will prevail. Thank you so much for your concern. & for one who
swears blind she is a monoglot, she nonetheless enjoys the English she picks
up on the List; for this our thanks.

Thanks for the update, Mark!

The Kahuna's and my potent energies will be swirling around you and your
Ruth at least until January 16 or until you get sick of them, whichever
comes first.

Poor thing! Some lovely Hanukkah music and lights are just the right thing
for Ruth, not to mention remembering the message of the holidays: light in
the darkest dark, endurance beyond expectation.

Blessed be you for making known the power of the Lowlands' own, in Syrian
land, no more, no less. It flatters us, I must confess.

And sorry that by mentioning the pampering of poor footsies I unwittingly
and touched a delicate or intimate spot and thus put my own foot in my
mouth.
