Indic languages geenrally use the "confirming" system:

> He didn't go home (did he)?
> Yes, he didn't go home
> No, he went home.

Okay, generally speaking, it is a bad idea to generalize.

Seems that Bengali uses English-style answers to negative questions. Maybe
as yet another proof of their resistance to all things Hindi and a tendency
towards Anglophilia.

Or maybe it is a NE to SW continuum; Marathi (in the SW) definitely goes
with the confirming (opposite-to-English) system.
