Beste allen, beste Pat, beste Ron,

De tekst is duidelijk niet Vlaams maar Hollands. Opvallend zijn de "ft"
(gecoft, afterdeell = gekocht, achterdeel), nog niet geassimileerd!

De kleine kantoortjes waar geld gewisseld kon worden, waren CAMARETTEN

Zo bijvoorbeeld in Delft. Daar is nu nog het Pleintje der Camaretten, voor
handelaars zeer gunstig gelegen tussen Voldersgracht, Wijnhaven en
Korenmarkt (Koornmarkt).

Voor het huis van de Lombarden (de geldwisselaars, vgl. Lombardije) waren
die kleine kantoortjes of "cameren" waar de bankzaken door de Lombarden
afgewikkeld werden. Camaretten als verkleinwoord omdat het eigenlijk maar
kleine kraampjes (hokjes, "kotsjes") waren. Die "cameren" werden in de oude
West-Vlaamse rekeningen "stallen" genoemd, verwant met "stellen" (plaatsen)
en "stellagie" omdat ze uit hout en gemakkelijk af te breken waren.

Bovendien ook dit: in het oosten van Vlaanderen, het Limburgse, komt de
familienaam POT veel voor. Bij ons, aan de West-Vlaamse kust, is er de
(vissers)familienaam POTS.

Beste Pat, misschien heb je iets aan mijn bedenkingen...
