Hi all,

Wolfram, in Afrikaans 'dun' takes on a variety of meanings:

- dun om die lyf (emaciated enough to be a model)
- die sop is dun om die lyf (a supposedly thick soup lacking body)
- uitgedun (the elephants are culled to make the park viable)
- dun hare (diminishing hair)
- dun gesaai (general 'lacking', including character, seed,

money)
- ek voel dun (hungry)

In Low Saxon we can also say *dün sayd* (*dünn seit* "thinly sowed") to mean
"scarce". As typical phrase is …

*Dat is man dün sayd (dat …)*
(*Dat is man dünn seit(, dat ...)*
("It is just thinly sowed (that ...)")
It rarely happens (that …)
