Hi Andy,



Trying to find my copy of "The Calendar" by David Ewing Duncan, which is
where I think I got the information from. As you point out, Scotland was
already Protestant when the Gregorian was introduced, so my reasoning was
clearly wrong; but I'm pretty sure Scotland still adopted it ahead of
England, before Parliamentary Union if not before the Stuarts took over in
England.  Scotland's traditional links with France survived the Reformation
for some time, and they may well have found it sensible to keep time with
the major European powers.



Whether on Union the new country thus went back to Julian until 1752 I'm not
sure - as I say, I can't find the book.
