Beste Paul,

An interesting case of the relative status of Romance or Classical words

Ã
Jaqui Janes, mother ofà British soldier Jamie Janes who was killed in

Brown's "scrawled" hand-written letter which she said mis-spelled his
name.Ã Brown rang Ms. Janes, who later commented that "although he must
have said sorry 20 times, he never once offered an apology"....
Ã
She clearly thinks that "Offering an Apology" has some sort of status or
solemnityà that "saying sorry" clearly lacks.
Making an apology is never very simple: It's probably better to express your
regret once (and heartfelt) than 200 times in a row.
There's different levels of apologising, just ask the Japanese nation
(especially with regard to China):

Maybe Mr. Brown can learn a thing or two from the past ;=)

Uh, how about âforefathersâ or âforebearsâ? What about âoffspringâ (OK,
technically speaking, that only refers to oneâs children, not later
generations)?
