Subject: LL-L "Etymology"
Dear Lowlanners,
in
*LL-L "Etymology" 2010.05.21 (01) [DE]*
I looked for the origin of the word *'luschig', 'Lusche'* as noun, which is
used in Standard German as well as in LS. It means 'messy' resp.'dud' , and
I asked if it could be related with English 'looser'.
Today I found that something similar is used in Dutch as well: *'louche'*, a
French loan, meaning 'dubious, suspect'. Could this be the origin of
'luschig/Lusche' (it is pronounced nearly identically)?
Allerbest
