Pat Barrett asked: Exactly how do you decide what it "should" be?

Granted the way people use it is how it is and should be. But, I said
“should be” based to two reasons. I began to notice that it sounded odd or
out of whack when I would hear it. Then, I began to think about what it
means and what it says. Comparing denotation to connotation. They just
don’t match up to me. So, that’s how I decided in this case.



I’ll also concede that innumerable (and I mean innumerable) things are not
the way they “should be” according to me. I’ve become quite accustomed to
by now (sardonic half smile).
