Subject: LL-L "Etymology" 2011.07.03 (01) [AF-EN-NL]
The first time I went to the Netherlands I got talking about language,
especially Afrikaans (I lived in SA back then). I commented that Afrikaans
had "baie" rather than "veel", and they said that Dutch people would still
know what I meant. I didn't know about the Malay origin at the time so I
thought it was a Dutch dialect word; has it crept in to Hollands then?
