Hello all,

Wilhelmsburg is one of today's most interesting parts of Hamburg. In fact
it is a beautiful spot, with water everywhere around and inside the island
in little canals (Hamburg people love water), many trees and greens and
even nature sanctuaries, still many old houses (despite the bombing) and
stretches of open-breathing, wide-horizon industrial area. It's bewitching,
I love it. I love it's beauty, vitality, authenticity and what I call
"Industrieromantik". Sheep grazing a dike (a mobile flock of sheep, fenced
in by a light mobile fence, to keep grass short and the dike in order),
left of them a road full of trucks and piles of containers, the terrain
lowering towards the harbor basins, right of them people shopping in a
supermarket and streets of almost village atmosphere. Imagine the sun
sinking over that scene, sinking between the container piles...!

Culturally mixed and still relatively (!) cheap, Wilhelmsburg is today
attractive to university students and artists -- and in their wake soon
gentrification will come. In fact that is planned. The 2013 international
gardening exposition IGA
http://bundesgartenschau.de/buga-iga/in-80-gaerten-um-die-welt/  is set in
Wilhelmsburg, large stretches of ground (and even some Kleingärten) being
presently made into a gigantic park. Guess if rents will rise after that!
People already have found out about rising life quality in Wilhelmsburg.
They have taken a look at the map and found out how near Wilhelmsburg is to
Hamburg's center. Just cross the Elbe. The planners of the IGA had a plan
for a ropeway across the Elbe right into Hamburgs city! Something
obstructed it, the large ships or the large cost, I forgot. But I fear soon
the authenticity will be over.

In the 1962 flood Wilhelmsburg was hit hard, in some places commemorative
flood markers show you today where the Elbe stood then. Many lives were
taken that night. Reinhard, there still are lots of Roma in Wilhelmsburg,
along Vogelhüttendeich and its side roads large new colonies of Bulgarian
Roma have evolved, almost 30% of cars along Vogelhüttendeich have
numberplates with "BG". Fine new social housing has also been built there.
Who knows rents won't rise even there? (Sigh)

Wi näumten disse leiwe Fru "Friedel".

Friedel wier ein bannig leiw' un hartensgaud' Fru.
Sei wier ein grot' Naturtalent. Ja, sei wier ein Mitmaker in dat
Kulturensemble
von de Düütsche Post. Un dat künn kein bäter gäwen.
De deip inbrennte KZ-Nummer an'n Arm künn man seihn. Ja, de enzeln Tallen
wieren grot un deip in ehren slanken brunen Arm inbrennt. Wat möt dat all
bannig weih dahn hebben.
Uns' Friedel wier sowat as ein Juwel in uns' Kulturensemble von de Düütsche
Post.
Disse Kultugrupp hett sick dunmals  tau DDR-Tieden dörchsetten künmnt, un
dat wier männigmal gor nich so licht.
Wi sünd nich ümmer nah den'n Willen von de dicken Genossen in de Knei gahn.
Wi künn'n uns dat leisten, mal bäten scharper gegenan tau gahn.
Un nah  dat Afnähmen von ein Programm hebben wi later bäten wat fründlicher
henfrisiert. Wi harden ja all Ahnimus (Ahnung), wat bi de Lüüd ankümmt.
In uns' Ensemble gäw dat 'n Männerchur, Solisten för klassischen un annern
Singsang, Rezitatoren, Danz-Grupp, un Poeten, 'n Zauberkünstler.

Trude Angelstein (ut Stettin) hadd hier in Swerin ein Danzschaul un sei
künn grotorrig up dat Klawezimbel spälen, sei wier ok so wat as ein
Pinanistin. Na ja, so hett sei för uns' Friedel ümmer up dat Piano spält.

Ick wier ok ofteins bi Friedel tau Huus bi ehr inladt, oewer jedein Gast
müßt' sick vörher  (Kaffeetied) mit ein lütt' Programm vörstellen. Also,
ick ok. Ja, ick spälte ein'n Rundfunkminschen, de nu ne niege Schallplatt
ünner de Lüüd bringen wull. Man, de Schallplatt hadd so ehr Nucken. Na ja,
sei hebben sick all' einen hoegt, ick ok. Un allens so ut'n *Stehgreif, *so
frie weg, un dat klappt ok (nich ümmer).
Later wier de Rundfunk-Moderater mihr in'n Dutt as de Schallplatt.
Ja, wenn mi de Hafer steckt... denn geiht so männigmal de Post af.
Oewer Klamauk gellte nich.

Ja, uns' Friedel wier ein Vörbild för all'.  Sei drög ok in sick de Kraasch
anner
Lüüd tau helpen.
So hebben wi "Programme lütte Form" (Programme der kleinen Form) makt, und
jewerein wier mit Liew un Seel mit bi, ick ok.

All' Amateure hebben sick up ehr Oort qualifiziert. Künstler von dat
Mäkelborgsche Staatstheater hebben uns dunmals tau Sied stahn.
Ok Ann-Charlott Settgast as Schriewers wier ein von uns' Wiespahls.

Un uns' *Anita* Ballettmeisterin hett de jungen hübschen Frugens un Kierls
dat Danzen bibögt. Olle un niedmodsche Dänz' hebben de jungen Lüüd afpeddt.
Af un an lopen wi uns hütigendags oewern Weg. Ja, uns' Anita hadd Päper
in'n Hinnelsten.

So hebben wi väle Johr dörchholl'n. Dat wier ok up anner Oort ein
sünnerlich Tied.

Ja,  uns' Fiedel will'n wi nich vergäten. Un nu geiht ehr Nam noch üm den
Globus...

Schwerin. Im Hintergrund Bühne, und von li nach re:
Zaubermeister, ick, Trude Angelstein und Friedel Fritz. (Es waren aber noch
