Beste Leeglaanders,
Bi'j oons is 'n woord: "verbrassen". Betekenis: opmaken, verspillen,
verzuipen.
Maar verbrassen betekent ok de zeilen verzetten. Bint der nog meer
zukke woorden?
Mien va had ;n uutdrukking: "Die schipper hef zien schip verzeupen.
A'j em in de hals kiekt, ku'j 't toppie van de mat nog zie:n".
==Die schipper heeft zijn schip verzopen; als je hem in de keel kijkt,
kun je het topje van de mast nog zien==.
Hartelike groetn,
Dick.

Dear Dick,
*Verbrassen* in the sense of 'to squander' is used in German and in Low
Saxon of Germany as well.
Apparently, it comes from Low Saxon *brassen* 'to change the position of a
sail.'
