Posting to the list

Dear subscribers,

I have taken some action to prevent the recurrence of the commercial
posting, nevertheless, given the current organization of the list these
things will happen.  It is one of the costs of our freedom.  This is not a
moderated list.  Anyone can post to it, although I am under the impression
that it is a closed list insofar as posting is concerned.  That means that
only subscribers can post.  The alternative is to create a moderated list
where I, or someone who relieves me, would have to approve each and every
posting.  I have not sought that privilege for the list, I do not
presume.  For me one of the pleasures of having founded and "owned" the
list is the dynamic of the on-lline conversation.
